Our deli is the best kept secret in Asheville. Creative & delicious sandwiches, soups, and salads made with organic and lots of local ingredients whenever available.
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner…
Breakfast burritos are available as soon as we open the door at 8am! For a sandwich, call (828-225-4952) or pop in to order from 12-2. Place your order at the Diner. And the Grab and Go case is always stocked with sandwiches, salads and snacks.
And now we have the Sunflower Diner, open from 7:30am til 4pm! Our menu is presented Vegan, with the option of adding an egg or bacon.* In keeping with all great diners, we offer all day breakfast choices as well as sandwiches, bowls, rotating specials and awesome sweets.
*The plant-based design of our menu is intended to invite our guests to consider the environmental impact of our food system, and, to discover options they may not have had an opportunity to try.
Vegan? We’ve got you covered… How does this sound? Our signature Barley-corn salad, No Evil Foods vegan chorizo, organic black beans, organic sweet potato, organic salsa and a healthy topping of Vegenaise, wrapped in a flour tortilla.
And for the NON-VEGANS, freshly scrambled organic eggs, tossed with organic black beans, cheddar cheese and organic garlic cilantro salsa, wrapped in a flour tortilla. Just the right amount to fill you up and give you the energy you need to start your day. Also available with Hickory Nut Gap sausage or thick-cut all-natural bacon.

Two soups are available by 11:30 and stay out til 9pm.
Choose from a creative selection of specialty vegetarian and meat sandwiches from our Grab and Go Case any time – or call/pop in between 12 and 2 for a freshly made sandwich.
All meat sandwiches are made with all-natural Dietz and Watson and Applegate meats and cheeses. We use locally-made Smiling Hara tempeh. Our tempeh and tofu are both organic. We use local organic breads, all-natural wraps, house-made non-dairy spreads, organic greens, and – as much as possible – organic veggies. All are served with a pickle, and can be grilled to order or served cold. Here’s just a sampling of our sandwiches…
- Tempeh so Asheville! Grilled tempeh layered with avocado, roasted red peppers, banana pepper rings & red onions, topped with vegan pesto dressing, dill havarti cheese or house-made sunflower cheese spread and fresh leaf lettuce – made on your choice of bread. Then grilled on the panini press.
- The Moby Grilled tofu, avocado, roasted red peppers, red onion, a smear of our house-made sunflower cheese, greens and tomato.
- Reubens! Turkey, Tempeh, or Pastrami. Get it grilled on our panini press.
- The Hipster Turkey, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato and Mayo.
- Tempeh Arizona Roots hummus, topped with grilled tempeh, house-made Barley Corn Salad, red onion, mixed greens and Vegenaise.
