Our Team

…joined us in December of 2020 and we’re so glad to have them! Both come to us from California. California’s loss, our gain :) You’ll find both to be bright spots in your day.

…joined us in February of this year. Another good steal from California! Welcome to Vanessa :)

…has been with us since 2016. Aside from being the witty make-you-feel-good person at the register, Emily heads up the frozen department and the coffee department (she gets the fun one… ice cream, pizza, coffee…) and is what we call the assistant manager - which makes her a go-to peep.

Aside from all that she can shape shift a chalkboard into a smile factory. She’s responsible for all of our awesome aisle signs… and many other signs you see hanging around :)

…has been with us since 2015. Kathleen wears many hats on that fun and friendly head of hers. She’s recently taken on bookkeeping to add to her bag of tricks! Otherwise she’s the buyer for our grocery and refrigerated departments. And thankfully, she’s our Floor Manager, managing a myriad of details, helping to make order out of what could be chaos. And always with a smile.

…is our longest-standing staffer! She’s been with us since just a year after we opened in West Asheville! Right now that means 11 years! As you might imagine, she knows a lot about a lot at West Village. She also knows A LOT about health and wellness, so if you have herb and supplement questions, she’s the one (she’s also the buyer for those departments- and body care too).

She shares her awesome sense of humor, eco-consciousness (mover and shaker behind our Terracycle program), and kind heart with us (and you) in her purchasing choices … most new products come through her. She’s also the one who makes those great sales happen every month!

…has been with us since 2017. Committed to being a friendly, kind and helpful presence, Jonathan has made afternoons and evenings at the market a super-pleasant experience as many of you know. Aside from that, he keeps us technologically awake.

…has been with us since 2018. After a couple of years in the deli, Tim moved over to managing the produce department. An honest to goodness NC native, Tim appreciates the local flavor of the market and the ways we can support local growers. And, aside from keeping our produce department stocked and interesting, he keeps order on our back porch…a bigger feat than you might imagine.

…has been with us since 2018. Always a cheerful presence! Kara also loves and manages our bulk herb department. She loves knowing what you want! So do tell her :) Kara also assists with our newsletters. ‘On the side’ she also is a licensed massage therapist and proud dog mama.

…has come and gone from the market since 2018, as he has pursued his massage therapy career. He’s a major multitasker at the Market; goes between produce and customer service/cashiering, and any other thing he sees that needs doing! A majorly helpful kind soul. Oh, did I say… he’s also an artist.

…has been at the market since 2019. With a rich background in the natural food and wellness industry, she’s quite knowledgeable about many things! For us, she focuses her organizational (and other!) talents on the bulk, cheese, beer & wine departments. She loves to hear what you like and want. Aside from her left brain talent, she’s also an awesome artist, and you’ll see some of her paintings/prints for sale at the market!

…joined us in February of this year. An old friend to the natural foods world, and to the neighborhood (he used to be one of the owners of this building!). David can do most anything, but with us he helps with the delivery trucks, keeps our shelves stocked, and oversees the meat purchasing…. aside from a myriad of odd jobs and fix-it tasks that need doing. Grateful.

…has been with us since 2015. Jennifer has had her finger in many pies at the Market. One time produce manager, she now has moved into the local grocery buying role. And, very importantly, she’s our social justice champion; paying attention to the causes we put our love and resources behind. She also is one of the primary customer service folks for our on-line orders (and our in-person customers too), keeping it flowing like a well oiled machine :)

…has worked with us several times, both officially and unofficially since 2016. She began working in the deli, then managed the deli several years ago. And though she moved on, she was never really gone… she was always there to help.

And now she’s back! Her culinary and organizational skills, and her can-do (anything) attitude are remarkable; demonstrated by her building the Sunflower Diner in the middle of a pandemic, and making it not just work, but become a favorite for folks from far and wide!

…has been with the Market since late 2018, working usually part time in the deli and diner. Her side gig (hmmm… or are we the side gig??) is massage therapy. She keeps you loaded up with sandwiches and salads to grab and go, and keeps the kitchen running quietly & efficiently.

…came to the Market in 2019. He’s the get-it-done guy for the Diner; prepping everything they need and helping with the deli as well. A dedicated kind of guy, he also dedicates consistent time and attention to being sure the unhoused community gets the food and clothing they need.

…came to us in February of this year and brought a whole bunch of sunshine with them! With their upbeat attitude and helpfulness, they are the expo extraordinaire!

…came to us in the fall of 2020, after closing her awesome and influential business The Block off Biltmore. We’re delighted to have her working with us… making our store a more beautiful place!

…started with us in the fall of 2020, monitoring the door several days a week. Now that we’re easing up on that a bit, he’s becoming more involved in the rest of the operation and is becoming a helpful and industrious multi-tasker!

… came on board in March of this year and hit the ground running. Aside from many other things, they are our breakfast burrito ninja; trying really hard to keep up with your appetite!

… joined us in April. We are so happy to have her, helping Hayette to make you all those awesome Diner items that you’re waiting for with baited breath.
